No Spelling This Week

FIeld Trip Reminder

Field trip money is due by next Tuesday, 11/26/13.  The original field trip letter letter says 11/29/13 but we won't be in school that day:).

Our first trip is to the Jacksonville Zoo on 12/12/13.  I am going to ask my students to think of their favorite animal at the zoo in preparation for a short animal report we will write.  The week of 12/3/13 will have an animal theme to it as we read the story "Two Days in May" about wild deer living in a city.  I am really looking forward to our "Animal Theme"!

Food Drive Update....

As of this morning, 11/21/13, our class has brought in 106 items for the canned food drive.  We have already filled up three boxes!  Thanks for your generosity!

This Week...

Wednesday, November 20, 2013 is an early release day.

Don't forget the canned food drive (continues to 12/6)

Student Council is also sponsoring the Mr. Rogers Sweater Collection.  If you have any gently used sweaters or coats to donate, there are donation boxes located throughout the building.

Food Drive 2013

Sabal Palm student council, along with several business partners, is sponsoring our annual canned food drive.  Please start sending in canned goods and other nonperishable items so we can help make the holidays nicer for families in need.  Below are some suggested items you can donate...


1.   Canned fruit: fruit cocktail, sliced peaches

     2.   Canned vegetables: corn, green beans
3.   Canned meats: tuna, beef, all others
4.   Canned beans: pork ‘n beans, black beans
5.   Canned soup: chicken noodle soup, vegetable soup
6.   Canned tomatoes and pasta sauce
7.   Grains: pasta, rice
8.   Breakfast cereals and granola bars
9.   Peanut butter and jelly (non-glass containers)
10. Shelf-stable milk

      The Food drive starts today, November 12th and lasts through December 6th.

Field Trips 2013-2014

Field Trip letters went home last Friday, 11/8/13.  The field trip cost this year is $20.00 and that fee covers all field trips.

Third grade will go to the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens on 12/12/13 and to FSCJ to see the play "Stuart Little" on 2/3/14.  Parents who would like to chaperone will pay at the gate at the zoo ($11.95, unless you have zoo membership) and will need to pay in advance for the play.  Chaperones for "Stuart Little" will need to pre-pay through the school ($8.50).

All chaperones must be an approved volunteer.  If you haven't filled out a volunteer application, you can do so online (http://www.duvalschools.org).  Go to the "community" tab and then choose "volunteer information".
