This Week...

School pictures are on Tuesday, October 15th.  If you are ordering pictures please send in the payment packet with your child on that day.


CGA (Curriculum Guide Assessments) are this week.  Reading is Monday, 10/14, Math is Wednesday, 10/16, and Science is on Thursday, 10/17.  The CGA Assessments show how the student is performing on the benchmarks taught in the first quarter.  The CGA Assessments are for data collection and to help  me plan instruction going forward.

The last day of the first quarter is next Monday, 11/21.  We will have a Planning Day on the 25th (no school for students)

Can you believe we are already a quarter through the school year?

Charlotte's Web

This week we have started working on our first novel study, Charlottes Web.

Most of you probably have read this book as a child.  If you have't read it since then, I heartily recommend revisiting the world of Wilbur, Charlotte, and the rest of their barnyard friends.

Charlotte's Web was written by E.B. White and was first published in 1952.  It was named a Newberry Honor book for 1953.  Garth Williams was the illustrator.  Charlotte's Web has since become one of the most important and critically acclaimed pieces of children's literature ever published.



I encourage you to add Charlotte's Web to your home library as it is a book children enjoy reading again and again.

BOOK FAIR....Monday October 7, 2013

We will go to Book Fair on Monday at 10:40-11:25.
Please join us if you can.  Mr. Griffin and I will be in the book fair with the children to assist them if
you send in money as well.


VOLUNTEER ORIENTATION....Tuesday October 8, 2013
8:30 AM, Teacher's Dining Room (next to the cafeteria).
If you plan to volunteer in the classroom or on field trips this meeting will provide important information for you.
