Drawing Conclusions

This week we are working on the skill of drawing conclusions.  It is simply another form of inferring.  I tell the students to "think like a detective".  A good reading detective uses two things to help them draw conclusions;
1. Previous knowledge or experiences
2. Text evidence or clues

This week, play a game with your student.  Think of people, places, or things that are familiar to your child (so they have some background knowledge).  Make statements such as "I have 4 legs",  "I am furry", "I like to play with string and chase mice".

"What am I?"

Have a great week :)
