Thanksgiving Fun

"Check out our new hats!"

We had a great "short" week.  First off, we had a very successful field trip to the Main Public Library.  We not only learned how to use the library and heard some fun stories, we also noted the architecture of the library and learned a little about its architect Robert A.M. Stern.  The art installations and architectural details of the Main Library are meant to symbolize wisdom and the world of knowledge the library opens up.

On Tuesday we had learning centers with a Thanksgiving theme.  To introduce the lesson the children made a pilgrim hat.  Then, they had learning centers.  In the reading and seat work centers, students learned about the history of Thanksgiving.  In the art center the children made a turkey project which allowed the students to reflect on what they were thankful for.  In the writing center the children had a choice to write about the meaning of thanksgiving in a short essay or poetry.

I am so thankful for the opportunity I have, every day, to teach my students.  They are a joy and a blessing.

I hope all of you have a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday, full of family, laughter, and happiness.
